Neighborhood House

In December of 2006, Craig David, a local artist and stone carver
allowed me to photograph the creation of what was to become one
of four murals installed on at the Neighborhood House located in the
west side of St. Paul, MN - the "Del Sol" area. At the time I started
photographing Craig David's work, I had little understanding of the
significance of the mural that I had been given the bounty of
watching being created. Later I learned that the relatives of those
represented in that mural would be there for its dedication in August
of 2007. It (the mural) was the last to be applied to the building and,
in my opinion, represents the most important mural of the group as
those symbolized are the actual ancestors of people living in the
area today. Both the past and present resides while giving guidence
for the future. Truely more than "just" art!

To the right you will find but a portion of the many photographs that
were created in this project, but those that are posted here should
give you a feel of how the mural was created and constructed. I
hope you enjoy viewing these and I urge you to consider
investigating more of the meaning of each one of those murals at
the Neighborhood House or through contacting Craig David via his
web site.
